The Los Angeles Lakers quickly discouraged any Utah fans who hoped to see the Jazz set a team record for consecutive home wins. Jazz fans had barely started booing Kobe Bryant before he and the Lakers made nine of their first 10 shots and were up by 20 before the end of the first quarter. Los Angeles held off every Utah rally from there and won 106-95 on Thursday night, ending the Jazz's 19-game home winning streak. "The important thing for us is to get off to a good start. We were able to do that and keep the crowd out of it for the most part,'' said Bryant, who scored 27 as the Lakers finished a four-game road trip 2-2 and pulled slightly ahead of New Orleans for the best record in the Western Conference. Lamar Odom had 21 points and 12 rebounds, Derek Fisher added 11 points and Vladimir Radmanovic scored 13 for the Lakers, who are the first team to win in Utah in 2008. Utah's home winning streak ended with a pretty big thud as the Jazz were never able to get closer than 10 until the final few minutes. "They went out and buried us right away,'' Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. The Jazz got within eight points down the stretch, but the Lakers didn't let them any closer. One Utah fan marred the already ugly loss by throwing a beer on the court after a dunk by Odom with 21 seconds left. Carlos Boozer had 23 points and 15 rebounds and Deron Williams had 26 points and 12 assists for Utah. Andrei Kirilenko scored 15 points, Ronnie Brewer had 12 and Mehmet Okur 10. Utah hadn't lost at home since Boston won here 104-98 on Dec. 29. The Chicago Bulls had never let an NBA Finals series go to a Game Seven in their franchise history, and all but one of their previous five titles (the exception was in 1991) were clinched in the sixth game. Thus, winning Game Six in Salt Lake City was imperative for Chicago. Yet, as they arrived at the Delta Center for Game 6, things did not look good for the Bulls. Scottie Pippen's back gave way when he dunked the opening basket of the game and he was slowed down, scoring only eight points all game. Tensions ran high in the Delta Center when the Jazz discovered problems of their own. They suffered several shot clock violations, including one on a successful three-point attempt by Howard Eisley. Television replays showed, however, that Eisley got the ball out of his hands in time before the shot clock hit zero and the referees missed the call.[citation needed] In the fourth quarter, the Bulls closed the gap. With 41.9 seconds left, the Bulls suffered a jolt as John Stockton hit a clutch 3-point shot to give Utah an 86-83 lead and send the Delta Center into a frenzy. Down by three, the Bulls had one last chance to stay alive. Running perilously low on energy, the Bulls knew they must win the game or else face overtime. After Michael Jordan made a layup to cut the Jazz lead to one, the Bulls needed to stop the Jazz from scoring again. When John Stockton passed the ball to Karl Malone, Michael Jordan stole the ball away and dribbled to the front. Guarding him was Bryon Russell, one of the Jazz's best perimeter defenders. SALT LAKE CITY - Reserve point guard Ronnie Price sparked the Utah Jazz and got under the skin of the Toronto Raptors. Price had 13 points, five assists and directed a decisive fourth-quarter run as the Jazz tied a franchise record with their 19th straight home victory, a 96-79 win over the Toronto Raptors on Monday night. ``My job is to bring energy when I step on the floor,'' Price said. ``The starters on this team play a lot of minutes so I don't have a lot of time to make an impression.'' The third-year pro who backs up Deron Williams played less than 10 total minutes in the second halves of the last four games. On Monday, the Jazz outscored the Raptors by 25 points in the 13 minutes Price played. He quarterbacked the Jazz to a 24-4 run in the first 6:27 of the fourth quarter to turn a tie game into a blowout. Price had two driving layups, three assists and some pesky defence on T.J. Ford, who erupted after getting called for an offensive foul. Ford had to be restrained by teammate Jason Kapono from charging referee Eddie F. Rush. The feisty Raptor guard was whistled for two technicals and ejected. ``I have been playing against T.J. since I was about eight years old in Texas,'' Price said. ``I have so much respect for him and we have had a lot of battles over the years. From the moment he entered the game, he looked like he had an aggressive attitude. I knew I had to match that with my own intensity.'' Williams scored 21 points and liked the view from the bench. ``Our second group did a great job,'' he said. ``They carried us pretty much the whole game. Kyle (Korver) was hitting shots, Ronnie was playing great defence, hitting shots and frustrating people out there.'' Carlos Boozer had 13 points and 10 rebounds but left the game two minutes early with a muscle strain on the left side of his back. He is probable on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers when Utah can break its franchise record for longest home winning streak, which was set from Jan. 19-March 29, 1996 and again from Dec. 13, 1989 to March 3, 1990. Jazz starting centre Mehmet Okur left the game in the first quarter due to the stomach flu. But Korver scored 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting as the Jazz reserves outscored their Toronto counterparts 47-30. Okur will be a game-time decision on Thursday. ``In the last part of the ballgame, we got a little life, ran the floor and made some nice moves to the basket,``Utah coach Jerry Sloan said. ``his was our fifth game in seven days, so we were a bit sluggish at the start.'' Jose Calderon had 16 points to lead the Raptors, who extended a season-long losing skid to five games.
