Allen Iverson scored 37 points in his MVP Season vs. Orlando Magic One of the most controversial Basketball players of all time, Allen Iverson is one of the most loved and hated figures in Basketball. Born Allen Ezail Iverson in Hampton, Virginia, he grew up very poor to a struggling mother and a father who deserted him. Growing up, he was very athletic, playing football and basketball throughout most of his education prior to college. Iverson began focusing on basketball at his mother's insistence, despite wanting to be a football player. He proved to be a talented basketball player. At Bethel High School in Newport News, he began his high school basketball career. He developed a reputation of talking a lot and being uncoachable. To say he had a rough childhood is quite an understatement. On one of his places of residence, he walked through knee-deep sewage daily. During one summer, he witnessed the death of almost ten of his closest friends. Iverson first came to the national spotlight in 1993 in a controversial incident surrounding violent events at a bowling alley in Newport News. While the events that happened there will never be fully known, the generally accepted story is that some white students got into an argument with Iverson and his friends. The first question surrounding the event is whether he started it or if the white kids started it. Also, the question surrounded whether or not he assaulted a white woman by hitting her over the head with a chair. The prosecution insisted that surveillance tapes undoubtedly showed Iverson was the culprit, but in reality the tapes showed nothing conclusive. Two factors did him in at his hearing; first of all, two white people said they saw him assault the girl. Secondly, the judge was from the very conservative southeast Virginia establishment and did not have any sympathy for Iverson, his background or his talent. Seeing that Iverson requested a bench trial, this was crucial to his case. To add fuel to the fire, Allen Iverson flew in for the weekend from a tournament to be in Virginia for his trial. This played into the prosecution's hands and also upset the judge, both of whom saw this as evidence that Iverson did not respect the law. He was sentenced to a 5 -year jail term. This case sparked a tremendous amount of national attention. The case caught the interest of Bill Cosby and Spike Lee, who would be a fan and advocate of Iverson for many years. People all around the Newport News area started a movement to free Allen Iverson. He spent only four months in jail. Governor Douglas Wilder pardoned him. This move all but ended his political career and sparked another controversy. Wilder was also black, and white voters in Virginia viewed this move in a very racist light. Iverson was viewed now in much of white America as essentially a convicted felon who was out of prison only because a black man was governor of his state. Iverson got out conditionally, however. He had to adhere to a curfew and could not play basketball until he got his high school diploma. He could not accept a scholarship to the University of Kentucky but did get a scholarship once he completed his high school education in a learning center. During this time, he received his nickname, the answer. He was called such because his friends said he was the answer to basketball's conformity so to speak, people that conformed to this family friendly image, such as Charles Barkley, Isiah Thomas and most importantly, Michael Jordan, who was a childhood hero of his. He accepted a scholarship to Georgetown where John Thompson coached him. Thompson became somewhat of a father figure to him, but he was hard to manage, and the two had a workable but very turbulent relationship. Iverson completed only two years of his education where he became the top NBA draft pick in 1996. He was drafted by the ailing Philadelphia 76ers in 1996. Iverson is immersed in hip-hop culture. This made him an incredibly controversial figure in basketball. His clothing looked more like a gangster rappers than it did Michael Jordan's. On the court he seemed to embody the gangster rapper's image. He had an arm covering on one arm when he played, and also was one of the first players to have cornrows; a hairstyle up until that time was popular in prison. To make matters worse, he had an incredibly "in your face" style, which did not sit well with older players like Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and others. Jordan said of him when Jordan's Bulls played Iverson's 76ers, that he had no respect for the game. Despite this, no one denied Iverson's talent. He could hustle the ball, could get around even the tallest players. He became known for his fast drives to the baskets and his ability to fake the ball in a move called the crossover. Spike Lee lost respect for him when he turned down his invitation to star in the film He Got Game (1998). As a very pointed move, Lee cast former collegiate rival Ray Allen in the part. The Sixers found themselves suddenly a respectable team. They acquired a new coach, the unusual Larry Brown. As a player in the ABA almost twenty years ago, Brown was also a young outsider fighting the system. Larry Brown now was a button-down-suit-and-tie coach. The two did not get along well at first; in fact, their relationship at best was serviceable. Brown was always unhappy with Iverson for not showing up to practice. Iverson insisted his game was pure inspiration, and he had little need for practice. The two rarely saw eye to eye. He received a tremendous number of awards in his short career. He was named rookie of the year in 1997, and on more than one occasion, he was an All NBA First Team, NBA All Star, was an All Star MVP, and received perhaps what was his crowning achievement to date when he was NBA MVP in 2001. That year, Iverson led his team to the NBA finals, but had a rough ride against Kobe Bryant and 'Shaquille ONeal's Lakers. They lost the championship in game five of the series. It was still quite an achievement because the Sixers had not been to the finals since Dr. J (Julius Erving) and Moses Malone led them to victory over the Lakers in 1983 in a 4-0 sweep. Iverson has over 20 tattoos. Each tattoo is a symbol of his life. One denotes the name of his group of friends he has known since childhood, Cru Thik, another who says the answer, another who is dedicated to his mom who is a strong presence as Sixers games, and many others. He married his high school sweetheart Tawanna Turner and they have two children. Won the gold medal at World University Games with the US Team in 1995. Named Big East Rookie of the Year 1995 Named Big East Defensive Player of the Year 1995, 1996. 1st pick in NBA Draft 1996 Was named MVP of the 2000-01 NBA season. Attended Georgetown University from 1994 to 1996 where he was coached by the legendary John Thompson. Drafted first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in 96. Rookie of the Year 1997. NBA Rookie 1st Team 1997. Rookie All-star game MVP in 1997. NBA All Star 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007. All Star Game MVP 2001, 2005. NBA MVP 2001.(Shortest MVP in MVP history) All NBA First Team 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005. In 2001, Led the 76ers to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1983 (lost to the LA Lakers in 5 games). Played for Georgetown University. Played Quarterback in HS and led his school to state titles in football and basketball his senior year. Under lifetime contract with Reebok. Daughter Tiaura (b. 1995), son Allen II, or "Deuce" (b. 1998). Led the Bethel High School Bruins (Hampton, Virginia) to the 1993 basketball and football state championship; the then-16 year old played point guard and quarterback. Released a rap album, Slow Motion, with appearances by his friends Ma$e, Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat and Kool-G-Rap. Georgetown University's all-time leading scorer. Named after his father, Allen Broughton, who left the family and never married Iverson's mother. Since 1998, he has hosted the Allen Iverson Celebrity Classic to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Hampton Roads, Virginia. Lives on the same street as M. Night Shyamalan. Wife Tawanna, gave birth to their 3rd child, Isaiah Rahsaan Iverson, the baby weighted 7 lbs. and was born at 9:30 A.M. on August 8, 2003. He founded the Crossover Foundation. Allen's third child, son Isaiah Rahsaan, was named for Isiah Thomas and the late Rahsaan Langford, Allen Iverson's close friend who was shot to death in October 2001. Olympic Bronze Medalist (2004 - Basketball). He and wife Tawanna welcomed their fourth child, daughter Messiah Lauren Iverson on August 16, 2005 at 11:47 AM, weighing 6 lbs, 12 ounces. The Philadelphia 76ers withstood a storm by the Orlando Magic and then Allen Iverson provided the knockout punch. The lightning-quick guard of the 76ers scored 37 points, including two pivotal jumpers and three free throws in the final five minutes, to lead Philadelphia to a series-clinching 101-91 victory over the Magic. "I feel great," Iverson said. "It's still hitting me all at once. It's something I've been waiting for a long time and to finally get it is something special." The 76ers won the best-of-five series from Orlando, 3-1, and will meet the Indiana Pacers in the second round, beginning Monday in Indianapolis. "I don't know how you can be any more proud of your team," Brown said. "I told them this was a great opportunity for us to grow up. Allen's doing what great players do. He's making other people better and he is taking responsibility and steps up. I feel good that a young team could respond this way." With Iverson leading the way with 26 points, the Sixers built an 18-point lead by the 7:33 mark of the third quarter. But Orlando fought all the way back and took an 86-84 lead after a jumper by Horace Grant with 5:47 left in the game. But the 76ers scored the next nine points while the Magic missed eight consecutive shots. George Lynch converted a pair of free throws with 5:23 left to tie it and Iverson hit a pull-up 12-foot jumper from the left baseline with 4:56 remaining to give Philadelphia the lead for good. After Orlando missed three shots on its next possession, Iverson drew three defenders and slipped a pass to backcourt partner Eric Snow, who hit a wide-open jumper from the right side of the free throw line to increase Philadelphia's lead to 90-86 with 3:27 left. Iverson made 1-of-2 free throws and rookie Larry Hughes dunked off a rebound to cap the 9-0 run, giving the Sixers a 93-86 lead with 2:27 left. A 3-pointer by Penny Hardaway pulled the Magic within 93-89 with 2:13 left. But Iverson hit a floater in the lane with 45 seconds remaining and Hughes converted a pair of free throws with 29 seconds left to open a 97-89 lead for the Sixers. Iverson and Theo Ratliff each hit two free throws in the final 17 seconds. "Coach said it was great for us to be in a dogfight like this and it was important for us to try and respond," Iverson said. "It was important to withstand the run, and we were able to get over the hump." Iverson converted 14-of-27 shots, including four 3-pointers, and had nine assists. The 37 points tied the season playoff-high set by Houston's Scottie Pippen against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. "This was the Allen Iverson show," Magic coach Chuck Daly said. "He scored 37 points and is such a tough competitor. I don't think you realize everything he does. He is so quick and always bouncing around. With his penetration and quickness, you are always trying to help which frees up and helps out players like Snow and Lynch." Snow matched a career-high with 20 points and Hughes added 14 off the bench. "Coach has been telling me all season long to be aggressive offensively and take the pressure off Allen, Larry and the other guys," Snow said. "I think that helped, him being on me all season." Nick Anderson led Orlando with 29 points, but missed all five of his field-goal attempts in the fourth quarter before fouling out. He was 10-of-26 for the game and 4-of-13 from 3-point range. Hardaway, playing the whole series with a torn ligament in his right wrist, endured another dreadful shooting performance. He hit just 3-of-20 shots from the field and finished with 17 points. "I came out trying to be aggressive, I just missed shots, no excuses," Hardaway said. "They just outrebounded us and outhustled us. They are quicker one through five and they do a great job trapping and getting in the passing lanes." It was a disappointing finish for the Magic, who tied for the best record (33-17) in the Eastern Conference with the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers and entered the playoffs as a three seed. "We overachieved all season long but we weren't able to get it done in the playoffs," Hardaway said. Iverson scored 11 points in the first quarter to help the Sixers build a 23-18 lead. Anderson hit a short jumper and a 3-pointer to tie the game early in the second quarter, but the Sixers scored the next eight points on a pair of layups by Tyrone Hill, a jumper by Harvey Grant and two free throws by Matt Geiger. The Sixers increased the lead to 47-36 at halftime after Snow hit a jumper and Hughes converted a pair of free throws to close the quarter. Sensing the kill, the 76ers came out flying in the third quarter. Ratliff converted 1-of-2 free throws, Iverson hit a 16-foot jumper and Snow connected on a 3-pointer 43 seconds into the quarter to open a 53-36 lead. A 14-foot running jumper by Iverson gave Philadelphia its biggest lead at 59-41 with 8:30 left in the third quarter.

It was a disappointing finish for the Magic, who tied for the best record (33-17) in the Eastern Conference with the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers and entered the playoffs as a three seed.

Three-time scoring champ hits career high Allen Iverson gave the crowd an electrifying performance to remember. Then the fans returned the favor with raucous ovations he won't soon forget. "That's when you get the goose bumps," Iverson said. "You honestly don't really feel it when the shots are going down. You don't ever get the goose bumps until the fans start to appreciate what you're doing out there." The Philadelphia star scored 60 points, a career high and the most in the NBA this season, to lead the 76ers to a 112-99 victory over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night. Iverson, averaging an NBA-leading 29.7 points, was 17-of-36 from the field and made 24 of 27 free throws. His previous high was 58 against Houston on Jan. 15, 2002. "I score a career high and we won the game," Iverson said. "That's how you draw it up in your dreams." It was the first 60-point game in the NBA since Tracy McGrady scored 62 for Orlando against Washington on March 10, 2004, Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal had the previous high in the NBA this season, scoring 55 points against Milwaukee on Jan. 4. Iverson, who had 54- and 51-point performances in consecutive games in December, also had the fourth-highest total in 76ers' history, behind only Wilt Chamberlain. Iverson scored 29 points in the first half, banging and crashing all over the court while helping the 76ers turn it into a rout. After Orlando went on a mini-run in the third that cut a 25-point deficit to 11, Iverson hit a 3-pointer from the right side as time expired to reach 40. Then Iverson earned a standing ovation for points 50 and 51. He stole the ball and was fouled hard on a layup attempt, slamming against the floor as he seemingly always does. The crowd erupted and stood in appreciation for Iverson, who went to the line and made a couple of free throws. It was the same for points 59 and 60 -- two more free throws. The fans were on their feet each time Iverson had the ball in the fourth quarter, giving a routine game the feel of a Game 7. "When they're up, when they're making noise and they're feeling good, that makes you feel good, that makes you feel good about people coming out to see you," Iverson said. "It's something they might remember and cherish for the rest of their lives." The game certainly left an impression on Sixers coach Jim O'Brien. "I've never witnessed a performance like this," O'Brien said. "This is the greatest performance I've ever witnessed." Iverson was consistent from the start, scoring 17 points in the first quarter, 12 in the second, 11 in the third, and 20 in the fourth. Eleven of his fourth-quarter points came from the line. "It was just attacking, attacking, attacking all night," Iverson said. "I guess that's why I went to the free-throw line as much as I did. I didn't settle for jump shots." The 76ers pulled within one game of Boston for the Atlantic Division lead and are one game under .500 (25-26). They haven't been at .500 since they were 6-6 on Nov. 26 and haven't had a winning record since they were 4-2 on Nov. 14. Maybe Philadelphia needs more 40-point games from Iverson -- the 76ers are 5-1 when he reaches that mark this season. Iverson also had his ninth 50-point regular-season game. He's scored 50-plus three times in the playoffs. Corliss Williamson added 18 points for the 76ers. He started in place of Kenny Thomas, sidelined by a back injury. Steve Francis scored 32 points for the Magic, and Grant Hill had 16. "It was one of those nights from a superstar performer," said Magic coach Johnny Davis, who coached Iverson in his rookie season (1996-97). "We had different defenders on him all night. He just had a dominant game."

The final 2+ minutes of a fantastic game between the Warriors and Magic. This clip features a very slim Shaquille O'Neal, Penny Hardaway, Avery Johnson, Chris Mullin, and the Warriors' leading scorer with 25 points, 1993-94 rookie of the year Chris Webber. Fantastic finish. Did the ref's blow the call? You decide. (C-Webb returns to the Warriors! 1-28-08!)

There are many ways to travel to an Orlando Magic Basketball game, but did you know you could ride there by train?!?! The Inland Lakes Railway has partnered with the Orlando Magic franchise to take fans to selected basketball games. Check their site at www.inlandlakesrailway.com to view the upcoming games they will be serving. This video was taken on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. The train traveled from Eustis to Tavares, and then to Orlando, FL. The engineer driving the train is Thomas East. He is one of the youngest certified engineers in Florida at age 19. The first scene was taken at Apopka, FL. You can even see the old dilapidated Apopka station in the background. The second scene was taken by a small yard in Orlando. The final scenes were taken in downtown Orlando, just blocks from the Amway Arena. In addition to runby's, you will see a little bit of cab footage, and Amtrak's Silver Star in downtown Orlando. Extra note: In the second clip, engineer Thomas gives me a "Shave and a Haircut, Two Bits" and the nearby cars driving by respond to him by honking there horns too! LOL. Thanks to a newfound focus on toughness and togetherness, the Orlando Magic are off to a perfect start away from home. Hedo Turkoglu had 24 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, Rashard Lewis scored 24 points, and the Magic beat the Toronto Raptors 105-96 on Wednesday night to earn their third straight road victory. Keith Bogans had 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Dwight Howard added 17 points and nine rebounds for Orlando, which won at Washington on Saturday and beat Minnesota on Tuesday. "Any time you can get road wins is good,'' Orlando guard Jameer Nelson said. "You're always going to be able to protect your home court because you've got your fans around you. When you come up to a hostile environment like Toronto, New York or Minnesota, you've got to stick together. Everybody who's on that bench and everybody on the court has got to stick together.'' One night after he failed to make a field goal for just the second time in his NBA career, Toronto's Chris Bosh scored 26 points, going 6-for-15 from the floor and making all 14 of his free throw attempts. Bosh also had 10 rebounds. Andrea Bargnani had 16 points for Toronto, while T.J. Ford had 12 points and eight assists. Toronto has lost three straight after winning its opening two games of the season. "We have to do a better job of concentrating on getting to the bucket,'' Bosh said. "We're settling for a lot of jump shots and everybody on the team is falling victim to that.'' A 3-pointer by Bargnani with 3:56 left in the fourth quarter gave Toronto its first lead of the game at 92-91. Orlando responded with eight straight points, including back-to-back 3-pointers by Lewis and Nelson and a driving layup by Nelson to take a 99-92 edge with 2:23 remaining. "Last year, when somebody made a big run at the end of the game, we kind of just folded over,'' Howard said. "In the last two games, teams have been making big pushes at the end of the game and we've held our ground. We didn't get mad or frustrated at each other. We went out there and tried to do the best job we can on defense.'' Nelson finished with 10 points and six assists for the Magic, who had all five starters reach double figures in scoring. "I like the way our team is responding,'' Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "Of course, I'd like it better if we'd just win by 15, but I like the way our team is responding. That's the way you're going to have to play to win games on the road in this league. I'm very, very pleased with them right now.'' Orlando wraps up its road trip at New York on Friday. "We've got one more test coming up Friday,'' Nelson said. "We have to take care of business.'' Howard said the Magic know they need to do better than the 15-26 road record they posted last season. "In order for us to become a great team and get respect around the league, we've got to win these games on the road,'' Howard said. "We've been doing an awesome job so far of just concentrating. We trying to mature as a team and every game is a stepping stone for us.'' Turkoglu played 45 minutes, including the entire second half, despite a tender ankle. Van Gundy said it was hard to take him out because of foul trouble to Lewis and Howard. "It was hurting before the game, but I always tell myself when I'm on the court it means I've got enough,'' Turkoglu said. "I didn't want think about it too much, let it get into my head. I just played through it. I know there's going to be a day off tomorrow. I'll get it treated and feel a bit better on Friday.'' Nelson returned to the starting lineup after sitting out Tuesday's game in Minnesota with a slight concussion, the result of an inadvertent elbow to the head during practice on Monday. He was cleared to play Wednesday night after riding an exercise bike during the morning shootaround, and said he felt no ill-effects. "The doctors did a good job getting me ready to play and being cautious,'' Nelson said. "I appreciate those guys being cautious and just allowing me to get back to being healthy.'' Orlando led 52-47 at the half. Notes: NBA executive VP of basketball operations Stu Jackson attended the game. ... Toronto activated forward Maceo Baston before the game and placed forward Jamario Moon on the inactive list.

In their first playoff game in eight years, the Philadelphia 76ers showed the poise of postseason veterans down the stretch. NBA scoring champion Allen Iverson scored 30 points in his first playoff game and the play of 7-footer Matt Geiger in the fourth quarter lifted Philadelphia to a 104-90 victory over the Orlando Magic in the opener of their Eastern Conference first-round series. "I am still excited about this game," Iverson said. "I feel like I could still play another 48 minutes. The crowd was against us and it was just great playing in that kind of atmosphere. This was my first one, and I would love to play in a lot more." "Allen told me he got 15 minutes of sleep last night, that was 15 more than I expected," said 76ers coach Larry Brown, who took his record sixth different organization to the playoffs. "It was a big thing for him to finally get here." The game was tied at 78-78 with eight minutes left when the 76ers went on a 23-8 run over the next seven minutes to put away the game. Geiger scored 10 of his playoff career-high 23 points in that span. He also finished with a postseason-high 10 rebounds. "I think their big guys focused on Allen a lot," Geiger said. "I got to some key spots and my teammates found me. I am feeling good about my shot right now." Geiger, who was signed as a free agent to a six-year, million contract before the season, averaged 13.5 points in 50 games during the regular season. With Orlando's defense scrambling to double-team Iverson whenever he drove, the 76ers took advantage and grabbed 24 offensive rebounds. As a result, Philadelphia held a huge 57-36 edge on the boards. "When you get beat by 21 rebounds in a game you are going to have a major uphill battle to stay in the game," Magic coach Chuck Daly said. While Orlando forwards Horace Grant, Bo Outlaw and Derek Strong and centers Ike Austin and Michael Doleac converged on Iverson when he often beat his primary defender off the dribble, George Lynch was able to snake inside and grab seven offensive rebounds, many of which he converted into easy follow shots. He finished with playoff career highs 15 points and 12 rebounds. "We try and think of ourselves as a physical team and try and rebound," Lynch said. "Today, I took it upon myself to grab every offensive rebound." Penny Hardaway, playing with a torn ligament in his right wrist, led the Magic with 19 points but just three in the second half. Hardaway appeared reluctant to shoot from the outside because of the injury and was just 4-of-13 from the field. Orlando's potent three-guard alignment of Hardaway, Nick Anderson and Darrell Armstrong combined to shoot just 16-of-49. Anderson and Armstrong each scored 18 points, but Anderson was 6-of-22 from the field and converted just 2-of-12 3-pointers. Armstrong hit four 3-pointers, but also had seven turnovers. "They played well, they played their hearts out," Armstrong said. "They crashed the boards, they did everything they had to do. Give them credit, they played harder than we did." Game Two of the best-of-five series is Tuesday night at Orlando. The Magic's 21-4 home record was the best in the East during the regular season. Daly, known for instituting a special defensive strategy against Michael Jordan which became known as the "Jordan Rules" while coaching the Detroit Pistons to back-to-back NBA titles in 1989 and 1990, made special contingencies for Iverson. During the regular season, Iverson averaged 22.7 points in three games against the Magic, but shot just 37 percent from the field. Today, Daly again used a multitude of defenders against Iverson, who made 12-of-29 shots. Along with Orlando's three guards, forwards Matt Harpring and Outlaw also took turns on Iverson. But none could stop Iverson from effectively driving to the basket, which caused Orlando's interior defenders to scramble out of position, leaving the Sixers free to crash the boards. "We've done about everything," Daly said. "I think no matter what you do he is going to get 25 points. We don't have the quickness to double him. We have to run at him with Derek Strong, Ike Austin and Michael Doleac." "I really don't think anybody can guard me," Iverson said. "I am not being conceited. I just believe in my God-given ability. I don't think anybody can guard me one-on-one." Despite being pounded on the boards and shooting poorly, Orlando hung tough through most of the second half and even took a 76-75 lead on a follow shot by rookie Michael Doleac with 9:18 left. Tyrone Hill rebounded Iverson's miss and converted a follow shot while being fouled. He added the free throw to give the 76ers a two-point lead but Orlando tied it on Anderson's lane hook. Just 5-of-17 in the second half, Iverson gave the Sixers the lead for good when he faked Armstrong with a stutter-step and hit a 15-footer Geiger hit an inside basket with 6:54 left to increase the lead to 82-78. Armstrong hit his fourth 3-pointer to pull Orlando within 82-81. After Iverson converted 1-of-2 free throws, the Magic turned the ball over twice. Lynch hit two free throws and Theo Ratliff had one to open an 86-81 lead for the Sixers. After an illegal defense call, Armstrong hit a free throw but Hardaway missed a layup. Eric Snow set up Geiger with a perfect alley-oop pass for a dunk to give Philadelphia an 88-82 lead with just under five minutes left. Orlando's Derek Strong and Isaac Austin hit jumpers but Geiger responded with jumpers of his own each time. The Sixers scored the next nine points to put away the game. After Ratliff hit a pair of free throws with 2:50 left, Iverson found Snow for a fast-break layup that opened a 96-86 lead with 1:56 to go. Iverson celebrated by chest-bumping Lynch while most of the stunned sellout crowd of 15,267 filed out. Geiger hit four free throws and Snow added three in the final 86 seconds. Iverson and Lynch combined for 20 points to help Philadelphia build a 31-22 lead after one period. Iverson hit a runner in the lane and a jumper and rookie Larry Hughes converted a follow shot and a dunk as the Sixers closed the quarter with a 9-2 run. "We played so hard in the first quarter that I thought that might have set the tone," Brown said. Orlando cut the deficit to 50-47 at halftime thanks to its foul shooting. Hardaway was 10-of-12 from the line in the second quarter and the Magic were 23-of-31 from the line in the first half. Anderson drilled a 3-pointer to open the second half, tying the game. Orlando took a 57-56 lead on a 3-pointer by Armstrong with 8:54 left in the third quarter but Philadelphia scored the next six points on a tip by Ratliff, a pair of free throws by Lynch after he was fouled on an offensive rebound and two free throws by Snow. Orlando responded with a 7-2 run and tied the game at 64-64 on a three-point play by Doleac with just under three minutes left in the third quarter.

I don't think anybody can guard me one-on-one." This is some video I shot of JJ Redick in his first game with the Orlando Magic. Although he played only 12 minutes, it was his first game since the NCAA Tournament back in March. As a huge Duke fan and resident of Orlando, I was very excited when we drafted JJ. The "Cameron Craziness" will continue in Orlando. GO DUKE and GO MAGIC!!
