A man convicted in the alcohol-related crash that killed Timberwolves guard Malik Sealy was arrested Sunday on suspicion of drunken driving. Souksangouane Phengsene, 51, of Shakopee was booked into the Hennepin County Jail around 2 a.m., according to the county Web site. State Patrol spokesman Mark Peterson said Phengsene is likely to face a felony DWI charge.

The Atlanta Hawks' tenuous hold on a playoff spot has Marvin Williams feeling jittery. "Confident? No, we can't feel confident," he said. "We have to stay the course." Williams scored 27 points and Joe Johnson had 23 to help the Atlanta Hawks win their third straight, 114-109 over the New York Knicks on Sunday.

After another ugly loss on the road, Utah coach Jerry Sloan thinks his team might be taking a playoff berth for granted. "Obviously, if you don't win, you don't get to the playoffs," Sloan said. After missing all his field goals against one of the San Antonio Spurs' in-state rivals a week ago, Michael Finley tweaked his pregame routine in hopes that he would perform a little better against the other. It seems to have worked. Finley scored 22 points on Sunday and the Spurs picked up their seventh straight win with an easy 109-88 victory over the Houston Rockets.

Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko missed Sunday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of an injured right calf. There is no timetable for his return, but he does not expect to be out long. Kirilenko had muscle spasms in his calf during a win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. He missed the second half of that game and his absence Sunday further depleted the Jazz.

Former NBA player Isaiah Rider must appear in court next month after being arrested for driving a stolen car. The 37-year-old Rider was arrested early Saturday morning for investigation of auto theft and was released from Los Angeles County jail in the afternoon. The sheriff's department Web site said he had been held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Al Thornton has only nine games left in his rookie season, although he's been playing like a veteran for the most part since mid-January. Thornton scored 20 of his career-high 39 points in the fourth quarter and the injury-riddled Los Angeles Clippers snapped a season-worst 10-game losing streak with a 110-97 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night.

Even the Bobcats had to admit it, beating the Trail Blazers was unusual given that Portland had nearly twice the rebounds that Charlotte did. Emeka Okafor scored 21 points and Jason Richardson added 20 for the Bobcats in a 93-85 victory over the Blazers on Saturday night. The Bobcats broke open the back-and-forth game in the final 2 minutes, and won despite being outrebounded 57-32 by the Blazers.

Joakim Noah's big game was nearly spoiled by another fourth-quarter collapse by the Chicago Bulls. Noah had a season-high 18 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks to lead the Bulls to a 114-111 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night after nearly squandering a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Although the Cleveland Cavaliers clinched a spot in the playoffs Saturday night, LeBron James wasn't in the mood to celebrate. In fact, the superstar acknowledged being concerned because his team is banged up with just nine games left in the regular season. Richard Hamilton returned to Detroit's lineup and scored 14 points, leading the Pistons to an 85-71 win over the injury-riddled Cavs.

The Phoenix Suns have a share of first place in the Pacific Division because Amare Stoudemire had another monster game and Shaquille O'Neal did the unexpected -- he made his free throws. Stoudemire had 33 points and 15 rebounds and O'Neal stunned everyone, hitting 7 of 10 from the free-throw line in a 110-104 win over the New Jersey Nets that put the Suns into a first-place tie with Los Angeles...

Kobe Bryant provided a ton of offense. The Los Angeles Lakers' defense was another story. Rudy Gay led five players in double figures with 28 points and the Memphis Grizzlies won 114-111 despite 53 points by Bryant against the NBA's worst road team Friday night. Bryant described his pile of points as "pretty much" of a waste.

Down three starters, the Utah Jazz were never worried as Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams were nearly flawless. Boozer scored 34 and Williams had 32 points to lead the Jazz past the reeling Los Angeles Clippers, 121-101 on Friday night. "Our team was down a few guys but we were focused, just determined to raise our game a notch," said Boozer.

Although it's been three years since Darius Songaila played in Sacramento, he still knows how to stir up the crowd at Arco Arena. The Washington reserve forward scored seven points in the final 59 seconds and Antawn Jamison had 25 points and 12 rebounds Friday night for the Wizards, who held off the Sacramento Kings 114-108.
