Brandon Roy launched a rally for the Portland Trail Blazers' final 24 games. He told his teammates: "Let's make a push, you guys!" Portland responded with a 119-111 victory Friday night over the Los Angeles Lakers. Roy had 20 points and a career-high 12 assists after missing the previous two games with a sprained right ankle.

Allen Iverson wasn't trying to take over the game down the stretch. It just happened -- like it typically does for him. Iverson scored 38 points, including two big jumpers in the final two minutes, and Carmelo Anthony added 30, helping the Denver Nuggets hold on for a 110-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.

Chris Paul explained his latest highlight-filled performance by complimenting his friend and fellow young point guard, Deron Williams. "When you play against the best, it brings out the best in you," Paul said. Paul had 24 points, 16 assists and five steals to help the New Orleans Hornets hold off the Utah Jazz 110-98 on Friday night.

Jason Kidd finally got the message, the one he was hearing from his new coach, his new teammates and even from friends and family. Shoot! Although more comfortable as a distributor, Kidd showed Friday night that he can change his mind-set, scoring a season-high 21 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks past the Sacramento Kings 115-106 Friday night.

The Celtics' opponents are learning a hard lesson: Pay too much attention to the Big Three and their solid supporting cast will beat you. Kendrick Perkins scored 19 points and Rajon Rondo had a career-high 16 assists in Boston's 108-100 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night. "(That) shows how unselfish Rajon is," said Celtics forward Paul Pierce, who scored 13 points.

One Washington player was ejected and others hung their heads, sulking. Then, the Wizards sprung to life and perhaps sucked away whatever the Chicago Bulls had left. Antawn Jamison, Roger Mason and Andray Blatche each scored 17 points, and the struggling Wizards used a third-quarter surge to overcome an 18-point deficit and beat Chicago 97-91 on Friday night.

LeBron James had no trouble with his aching ankle Friday night. Listed as a game-time decision after spraining his right ankle Wednesday night, James had 30 points and 13 assists to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 92-84 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The NBA's leading scorer was hurt in Wednesday's loss in Boston.

In seven games with Atlanta, Mike Bibby has learned that Josh Smith can jump. "All I have to do is throw the ball anywhere near the rim and he'll go get it," Bibby said. Bibby and Smith connected for a go-ahead, alley-oop dunk with 1:12 left, and the Atlanta Hawks overcame a shaky start to the fourth quarter to beat the New York Knicks 99-93 on Friday night.

The Indiana Pacers shook off the absence of some big-name players, while the Toronto Raptors couldn't overcome the loss of their best big man. Mike Dunleavy matched his career high with 36 points, Kareem Rush added 23 and the Pacers beat the Raptors 122-111 on Friday night. Troy Murphy scored 18 and Stephen Graham had 16 as the Pacers won for just the second time in their past seven games.

The Charlotte Bobcats waived point guard Jeff McInnis on Friday, a move intended to make Raymond Felton the full-time point guard. McInnis started 26 of the 54 games he played this season, averaging 4.5 points and 4.1 assists. Coach Sam Vincent had been using McInnis and Felton together for much of the season in a small backcourt.

The Sacramento Kings waived point guard Tyronn Lue on Friday, putting another veteran free agent on the market for teams looking for depth down the stretch and in the playoffs. Lue never played for the Kings. He was acquired Feb. 16 as part of a trade that brought Anthony Johnson, Sheldon Williams and Lorenzen Wright from Atlanta.
